Julia Tanner (she/her) is an aerial circus artist specialising in aerial hoop. Raised in Switzerland with roots in Germany, her work is shaped by the countries she’s lived, trained, and performed in. Julia sees circus not as a single discipline but as a blend of movement, theatre and music. Her inspiration comes from both the visible and the invisible, what happens on stage and behind the scenes. She treats the hoop, the rigging, even the backstage systems as part of the performance. Julia aims to reveal the full world of circus, not just the polished front. Her creative process is hands-on and physical. She explores, experiments, pushes limits. She builds small surreal worlds where audiences can lose themselves, if only for a moment. Julia wants her work to linger, emotionally and visually, offering honest, alive experiences that pull people in. More than a performer, she’s a circus maker. Julia shows up fully, whether she’s in the air, on the floor, or setting the stage.
